Proof of service

A notice generally counts once it is served in a way the law allows. Record who served it, who received it, the date, the time and the method.

Service methods and their conditions are set by statute. Where to check: Code of Civil Procedure 1162. If you are unsure which method applies, ask a California attorney.

Record the proof of service the same day you serve. Sproutly keeps it with the notice and lets you download it.

  1. Serve the notice by one of the allowed methods.
  2. Open Legal, then Notices and find the served notice.
  3. Choose Record proof of service and enter the method, date, time and who received it.
  4. Save the form. It stays attached to the notice, and you can use Download proof of service.
